When the wind farm is operational, there is limited need for on-site personnel. Routine maintenance is usually undertaken by an engineer every three months. The turbines’ performance is monitored remotely 24 hours a day.
If a turbine fault occurs, the turbine stops automatically and the control system alerts the operating company via a telephone line.
The wind farm is expected to have an operational life of approximately 25 years. After this time, the wind farm may continue to operate if planning permission is renewed. If not, it will be decommissioned and the site restored.
