A number of surveys and studies have been undertaken since the site was first identified as having potential to accommodate a wind farm development. These have provided a detailed understanding of the existing environment at and around the site and what potential impacts the proposed wind farm may have.
The consent application and addendum included full details of the various studies and their findings.
Our consultant ecologists have carried out a series of very detailed ecological assessments including a breeding bird survey, a wintering bird survey and other species specific surveys. The results of these assessments were included within the Environmental Statement submitted along with the consent application and any updates were included within the addendum supplementing the Environmental Statement.
Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment
A study was commissioned to look at the potential landscape and visual impact issues of the proposed Braemore Wind Farm. Full results of this study, along with a variety of illustrations including photomontages, were submitted as part of the Environmental Statement that accompanied the consent application. Following the reduction from 27 to 24 turbines, theses visualisations were updated and included within the addendum to the Environmental Statement.
Some illustrative photomontages are displayed in the 'Picture Gallery'.
A series of other assessments, studies and surveys were completed. These included, but were not limited to, hydrology, archaeology and noise. As with all of these studies the results were included within the Environmental Statement submitted with the consent application and any updates were included within the addendum to the Environmental Statement.
